All Four Stock Portfolios are Beating the Market Averages! — 12/07/12

All three full-year 2012 portfolios are outperforming their comparable market averages.  The Model Portfolio: Growth Stocks for 2012 is doing best vs. the S&P 500, beating the S&P 500 by 102.3% in the same time frame.  (The Growth Stock portfolio is up 24.42% while the S&P 500 is up 12.07%.)  The Model Portfolio: Growth & Income Stocks for 2012 portfolio is beating the Dow by 63%, and the Model Portfolio: Stocks for Trading and Aggressive Growth in 2012 portfolio is beating the S&P 500 by 72%.

The performance of the Model Portfolio for Second Half 2012, below, is compared to the performance of the S&P 500 stock market index, beginning with closing prices on June 29, 2012.  The Model Portfolio for Second Half 2012 is outperforming the S&P 500 index by 141% since June 29, 2012.  (The Second Half 2012  portfolio is up 9.89% so far, and the S&P 500 index is up 4.10%.)

The Model Portfolio: Growth & Income Stocks for 2012 and the Model Portfolio for Second Half 2012 each owned shares in Kraft Foods Inc. (KFT), which had a spin-off on October 2, 2012.  The portfolios now own shares in Mondelez International Inc. (MDLZ) and Kraft Foods Group Inc. (KRFT).  The previous trading symbol, KFT, is now defunct.

Comcast (CMCSA) shares are up the most at +55.33%.

Apple (AAPL) shares are up +32.21%.

Walt Disney (DIS) shares are up +30.61%.

Tenaris (TS) shares are up the least at +3.58%.

The S&P 500 is up +12.07% from 1265.33 to 1418.07, between Dec. 23, 2011 through Dec. 7, 2012.

 

Model Portfolio:  Stocks for Trading and Aggressive Growth in 2012  Results

As of 12/07/12, all eight stocks are up in price.  The total portfolio* is up +20.75%, including dividends earned through 11/30/12.

Comcast (CMCSA) shares are up the most at +55.33%.

CBS Corp. (CBS) shares are up +33.66%.

Macy*s (M) shares are up +22.39%.

Tenaris (TS) shares are up the least at +3.58.

Model Portfolio: Growth & Income Stocks for 2012 ** Results

As of 12/07/12, nine stocks are up in price and two stocks are down.  The total portfolio* is up +11.43%, including dividends earned through 11/30/12.

Abbott Laboratories (ABT) shares are up the most at +16.98%.

Kimberly Clark (KMB) shares are up +16.52%.

Kraft Foods Group Inc. (KRFT) shares are up +12.43%.

Air Products and Chemicals (APD) shares are down the most at -3.47%.

**The original portfolio shares of Kraft Foods (KFT) were affected by an October 2, 2012 spin-off.  The portfolio now owns shares in Kraft Foods Group Inc. (KRFT) and Mondelez International (MDLZ).

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up +7.00% from 12,294 to 13,155, between Dec. 23, 2011 through Dec. 7, 2012.

 

Model Portfolio for Second Half 2012 — June 29 through November 30

As of 12/07/12, seventeen stocks are up in price and three stocks are down.  The total portfolio* is up +9.89% from June 29 through December 7, 2012, including dividends earned through November 30, 2012.

Ann Inc. (ANN) shares are up the most at +25.89%.

eBay (EBAY) shares are up +23.16%, Home Depot (HD) shares are up +21.63%, Time Warner (TWX) shares are up 21.60%,  and Visa (V) shares are up +20.16%.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) shares are down the most at -8.69%.

Autodesk (ADSK) shares are down -3.52%, and FedEx (FDX) shares are down -2.46%.

*Results assume equal dollar amounts purchased in each stock, rounded off to full shares, using the closing share prices on June 29, 2012.

The S&P 500 is up +4.10%%, from 1362.16 to 1418.07, between June 29 and Dec. 7, 2012.
