Questions from Investors, Oct. 24, 2011

Readers have recently asked me about the following stocks:

Intel Corporation (INTC) — a good growth & income stock. I will write about it today.

Southwest Airlines (LUV) — the company bounces around between annual profits and losses. I don’t recommend companies which are recently losing money.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) — A great company!  I wrote about Apple several times this year. (Use the website’s search feature.)

Alcatel-Lucent (ALU) — the company has been taking annual losses. I don’t recommend companies which are recently losing money.

Nokia (NOK) — there is no consistent growth in sales & profits.  I only recommend growing companies.

Cross Timbers Royalty Trust (CRT) — this is a tiny company with only $17 million on 2010 sales.  I only recommend mid- and large-cap stocks.

Brigham Exploration Company (BEXP) — the company is just turning profitable w/rapid projected profit growth. Price resistance at $36. Could easily bounce between $26 and $36 before reaching new highs again. This is a small-cap growth stock.

Kodiak Oil & Gas Corporation (KOG) — projected to start turning a profit; tiny company which means wild risk.  I don’t recommend stocks which cost less than $20 per share.

My investing “rules” serve to minimize risk. That is a priority for me, but not a priority for everybody. My opinion of these stocks is based on whether I would invest in them or not.
