A Patriot’s Call to Arms Against Republican “Leadership”

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Republican Party “leadership” has declared war on its Congresspeople who vote “NO” on Fast Track-related procedures and legislation.

Here are the names of some of our brave patriots in Washington D.C. who are standing up to those who would give away United States’ sovereignty via secretly-negotiated agreements such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade agreement and the Trade in Services Agreement (TiSA). These Congresspeople are being aggressively retaliated against by Speaker Boehner and his allies.

  • Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC-11) has been stripped of his subcommittee chairmanship, following his “NO” vote on a procedural motion, related to Fast Track/TPA. (Read more from this June 20th Politico article.)
  • Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO-04) is also experiencing retaliation for his brave stance against Fast Track/TPA, in the form of withdrawal of support from various PAC contributors. In addition, a Colorado elected official told me that the D.C. Establishment is sending out feelers to determine the viability of launching a primary challenger against Mr. Buck in 2016.
  • In recent weeks, Republican “leadership” removed Representatives Trent Franks (R-AZ), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), and Steve Pearce (R-NM) from their positions on the Whip Team. In addition, “leadership” apparently used subcommittee chairmanships — currently belonging to Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) and House Freedom Caucus chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) — to bribe other Republican Congresspeople, in an effort to convince them to vote “NO” on Fast Track-related legislation. (Breitbart, 06-20-15)
  • Rep. Rod Blum (R-IA-01) has also been targeted by Speaker Boehner. (National Review, 06-21-15)

I am especially concerned about Rep. Ken Buck, not because he is my personal friend, but because he is President of the Freshman Class in Congress.

It is clear to me that Republican “leadership” is going after Rep. Buck because he holds a position of authority. It’s one thing for random Congresspeople to vote “NO” on Fast Track trade promotion authority (TPA). It is quite another for a prominent Congressperson — a designated authority figure over almost 60 impressionable future leaders — to guide them in a principled direction over secret and misleading legislation.

Here’s how voters can show their support to Rep. Buck, and these other fine American patriots:

  • Donate to Rep Buck’s campaign. It will provide great relief for other Congresspeople, who are inclined to vote no on TPA and TPP, if they see Americans responding with thanks by opening their wallets to support re-election campaigns.
  • Call*, email, and tweet Republican & Democratic Senators. Tell them to vote “NO” on the Fast Track trade promotion authority bill (TPA).   • Make donations to any Republican Congressperson who experiences retaliation from Speaker Boehner, including Rep. Rod Blum (R-IA-01)Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC-11), Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ), Rep. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), and Rep. Steve Pearce (R-NM). If you live near any of these fine patriots, volunteer with their re-election campaigns.
  • Plan to support Speaker Boehner’s 2016 primary opponent, J.D. Winteregg. You can find him on Twitter, Facebook, and his campaign website.

 

I close with these words of warning from the quintessential American patriot, Patrick Henry:

  • “Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!”
